If you are a follower of the blog, then you might remember my past rants about bad experiences with the Pediatrician we had here so far. But, when we were in the hospital this time, I got the nurses opinions on a good doctor. I told them I wanted someone younger (than almost dead) and up to speed on the latest mommy trends (swaddling, breastfeeding, babylegs..i'm kidding) and they gave me the name of our physician. We met her the day after we got home with B. She was great, but the next apppointment we accidentally scheduled it with another doctor (the owner of the clinic) and he was great, even greater than she seemed to be! But then today we saw another doctor that was great, too...I think we have now dealt with all of them now, because we spoke with the other female doc over the phone a few weeks back. I really like them and agree with what advice they have given. It just makes sense to have a good doctor, and I told Russ today, there is just no reason we should settle for a Not-so-great person to check out our kids...keep looking! I am very very pleased with the group we ended up with here is Quincy, FINALLY! The nurse even came out intothe waiting room and picked up some of what I call baby luggage and helped us tote it all back to our favorite animal room. How nice!
So here are the measurements for our gigantic, but beautiful little love bugs.
Harrison Cayde "Brother" :
Weight: 24 pounds, 7 ozs
Height: 33 1/2 inches (H is now taller than half of Mommy!)
Head: 18 5/8 inches
H was 60 % for his weight and again off the chart for height, like 120%. He had to get a bunch of shots today, poor guy. I had to exit quickly before the tears came. He did so well, and he even had his lead and iron level checked from a finger stick. In many states they do this test by drawing the baby's blood and we were NOT doing that, but the finger stick was so not a big deal to him (thank goodness!). He thought that was actually pretty cool, and loved the cool bandaid. By the time he got all of his shots he looked like a representative for Spiderman Bandaids. And the little boy in the next room over saw them all and asked for himself one. Ha! Kids are too funny! Doctor gave him a tongue depressor and that was awesome, of course. He told him that you can only get those the doctor's office. Anyway, he is not anemic or full of lead, so we are happy campers! Sweet baby boy is already so big!
Bailynn Kennedy "Sissy" :
Weight: 10 pounds, 15 ozs (Whoa! Little B)
Height: 23 1/4 inches
Head: 15 1/4 inches
B was 90% for weight and off the chart for height--basically she looks like a three months old. They said we have some big and strong babies! She got her first shot today...boo! And she did so well, I was so suprised. She just muttered a bit and then feel asleep as soon as her leg was covered up. She is still nursing well, obviously but we are trying to get her to sleep more at night, and he recommended some things to try. She lay on the table and just smiled and played while she was being examined. She really is so adorable, her fuzzy little hair and all! He teased her about the tint of red in it and said she would be wild. He called her the con artist because she is using me for her food...her being ten pounds breastfed and all (which is apparently not really necessary!) He said she had me on a schedule and not the other way around....and that it was the redhead in her doing that! Too funny!
We had a good appointment. Not sure why, but everywhere we go our children steal all of the attention. The doctors and nurses kept coming back to talk or add one more piece of advice while we were loading the clan back up to go.
